Hello, Moved from Hardware Forum I'd like to 'CALIBRATE a new battery for an HP notebook. Because when I was playing a YouTube video directly from the new Battery after it was Fully charged.the video would not play in a most healthy way.

2017-2-15  Hello, I have an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop that needs to have it’s battery calibrated. Windows 7 64bit thinks that it runs out of juice after 10mins of use. However, if I hit the power button after it goes to standby, it will run with the battery at 0% for more than an hour. Let the battery fully charge, until the battery LED turns Off. Now, turn On the laptop and then press F8 key repeatedly when the first logo screen comes up. In the 'Windows Advanced Startup' menu, go to 'Safe Mode' and then press the 'ENTER' key. Unplug the unit and let the computer run on battery until it shuts down.

I checked the BIOS and it has the latest from the HP website. When I plug the computer with the AC adapter it plays healthier. I assume as [any] Battery loses its charge that it might cause some issues.Correct? These were the basic steps I followed: perform the following steps to calibrate your battery>connect the ac adapter fully charge your battery (99-100%) disconnect AC adapter> shut down computer restart computer and press the ESC key when the power light turns on>select F2 System Diags from Startup menu> Select Full Hard Disk Test>leave the system on and allow the system to fully discharge>this may take up to six hours depending on the battery>connect AC adapter>power on system>Launch Battery Check to validate the calibration was completed successfully. If the battery status is still 'Calibrate', you need to complete the steps again.

If that doesn't calibrate it the second time the battery needs replacing. Please contact HP. In the BIOS Menu I did not see the term Full Hard Disc Test.

Windows 7 drivers download

I'm running the Hard Drive Long DST Test now. Is this correct?

Is there any harm in Calibration using this test? I have run this same video on two other notebook computers and they both were able to play the video off the battery.not requiring the AC adapter.

Windows xp sp3 jpn isosorbide download. I've personally never had this kind of a problem before and based on what I've seen it indicates the battery could be defective or not powerful enough to run the notebook. Not certain what other drivers might be involved with this that might somehow cause this so-called erratic behaviour I'm seeing? It's possible it may be something other than the battery?! Waiting for the last Calibration to finish so I can test things out.

Sincerely, Raphael. And Thank YOU. This method seemed to work: Method 2: Calibrating the battery while PC is not in use Calibrating the battery requires complete charge and discharge cycle. To calibrate the battery while using the PC is not is use, complete the following steps. The calibration may take 1-5 hours depending on the age of the battery and the configuration of the notebook PC you own. The PC should not be used while you perform the following steps. Completing all the following steps will also calibrate the battery so that the power meter readings are accurate.

Shut down the notebook PC. Connect the AC Adapter to the notebook PC and to an electrical socket. Charge the Notebook PC until the Battery Charge light is Green. This indicates the battery is completely charged.

Press and release the Power Button to start the computer. Press the F8 key several times when the startup Logo or the laptop manufacture name displays. When the Windows Advanced Startup Menu displays, select the Startup in Safe Mode option. Remove the AC power adapter from the notebook PC. Allow the battery to discharge completely until the notebook PC turns off. The battery is now calibrated and the battery level reading on the power meter is now accurate.
